small vase - big effect

When arranging flowers, I always set at least a flower by side to put in a one of my mini vases. I like the contrast between small and big, and I think that a single flower or a very small bouquet can be very pretty.I have quite a collection of mini-vases, I bought some of them when I was travelling (Copenhagen, Japan) or from flea markets.  Those don't have to be designed to be a vase. I use a lot of antic glasses. For example colored glasses are very cool - especially if they match the colour of the flower you are presenting. They are very handy to transport (or bring back when you travel) and that they look very pretty on display as a collection when they are not in use. Here is a selection of my last mini-bouquets. Even big flowers like peonies, look fantastic when they are cut very short.

wild roses

A bunch of flowers doesn't have to be complicated or expensive to be beautiful. Sometimes, a simple bunch of wild roses is enough.I like when roses have this vintage look and I don't like boring roses that come straight out of the green house. For me a rose should look like it comes directly from my garden - it shall make me forget for an instant that I live in the city...Have a good day

Unterhaltung - Lieblingsstücke

We have a new shop in Eppendorf (since April 2012) - a concept store called Unterhaltung - Lieblingsstücke (it could be translated Entertainment - Favourite Things) and I really like it. They  sell a little bit of everything (yeah - like a concept store usually does...) -  jewellery, decoration items, food, postcards, books, magazines, clothes ... It is also a good place to find a nice present for a male friend or your husband and for children.

They represent some very cool brands like the danish brand House Doctor or sell some lovely DIY magazines, like the brilliant British magazine Mollie Makes. But just have a look for yourselves when you are in Eppendorf. You can even stay a little longer and have a cup of coffee in the shop.

Johanna Schultz - Poetry with letters

Hello,
Today has been an exciting day blogwise. I published the new self-hosted version of my blog (no more .wordpress.com) as well as my madame love Facebook fanpage.
So now I would like to share another very cool shop in my lovely Eppendorf (the beautiful area of Hamburg I live in).
The shopkeeper is pretty young and called Johanna Schultz  - and so is the shop: Johanna Schultz - Wohnen 1700-1980 (Living 1700-1980).
Johanna sells a lot of beautiful objects in her antic shop. but my favorit ones are the letters. I am a big fan of the use of typography in the decoration: you can see examples on my pinterest board LOVEly letters.

Even if I love the letters, I must say that you can find a lot of other treasures in the shop, such as beautiful lamps, like an original artichocke lamp by Poul Henningsen or a lonely fawn coming strait out of a fairy tale.

 

very berry - part 3

Hello, it's me again. So after a very nice afternoon spent on the Hamburg lake, here is my third post - as promised, with some pictures of the lovely present I got from Lübeck as part of the "Post aus meiner Küche" exchange. I was very lucky to have such a great partner - she did an excellent job - a cookie trilogy, and I had some raspberry cakes on the boat this afternoon! Bonjour, c'est encore moi. Après une excellente après-midi passé en bateau sur le lac, voici mon troisième post - comme promis, avec quelques photos du ravissant paquet que j'ai reçu de ma partenaire de Lübeck dans le cadre de "Post aus meiner Küche". J'ai eu beaucoup de chance d'avoir une aussi bonne partenaire - elle a fait un super boulot, une trilogie de cookies, et j'ai même mangé des biscuits à la framboise sur le bateau cet après-midi! Je suis très impatiente d'essayer les cookies à la fraise et aux cranberries. Sandra m'a aussi envoyé une super joli bracelet fait main. Merci Sandra
